Saving our planet, one seat at a time
Re-upholstery and its positive effect on the environment in 2020.
As you will be aware, we live in a world surrounded by keywords such as recycling, reuse, upcycling, eco-friendly, eco-furniture, the list goes on. But unless we all play our part, nothing will change. Did you know you could reduce your Carbon Footprint significantly by reupholstering an old piece of furniture instead of buying a newly manufactured one?
I am not saying that we all need to instantly change our lifestyles, but that we should, where possible, not be wasteful. I am hugely proud to be running a small business that contributes to the reduction of waste by future-proofing existing furniture for the next generation to enjoy. Join me in my mission to protect our planet by reusing and reupholstering furniture.
New furniture production - The production and manufacture of new furniture has a huge impact on the environment. According to a report by the Furniture Industry Research Association (FIRA) a single arm chair can produce up to 43kgCO2. Re-upholstery reduces this significantly, whilst still achieving a new refreshed look. In fact, you could reduce the carbon footprint by up to 72% versus the production and manufacture of a new item.
Current UK generated waste from furniture - At present of 83% of furniture in the UK is not reused, recycled or reupholstered. Every year 672,000 tonnes of furniture waste is sent to landfill. That equates to 4.2 million 2 seater sofas. This has to be reduced in order to protect our planet, just think how much waste could be reduced by reusing and reupholstering furniture.
Re-upholstery is the green solution to new furniture - Join me in my mission to protect our planet by reusing and reupholstering furniture in 2020. #goGreen #reuse #reupholster #carbonfootprint
